finally another post... after nearly 1.5 years of silence...

suw... as everyone might (or might not) have heard, my hard drive broke down last week, taking with it all the stuff I collected over the years...

oh well... meh...

so today, I skipped a couple of classes to go buy myself a new drive and got one twice as big as my old one ( 160GB is enough for everyone :p )...

now for some details of the damage on the old drive...
- the drive is detected by the BIOS
- GRUB loads, so we know that the drive's bootsector is fine
- Windows bluescreens on entry, no information here
- Linux loads the kernel properly until it tries to find init
- The drive makes a clacking noise when physically shaken

my hypothesis: broken drive head, I'm going to open it up later tonight to find out for sure...
